Add another dot to our travel map. This is the first time either of us has been on South American soil. We’re happy to be here!
On Monday, we drove from Palm Springs to LAX and spent the night in a hotel so we could be fresh and ready for the flight out Tuesday morning. We got to LAX and relaxed in United’s Red Carpet Club before our flight to Washington – Dulles.
For that flight we were in first class and enjoyed the extra room and service. It’s a great way to fly across the country! When we arrived in DC, though, we checked the monitors to find that our flight to Buenos Aires was delayed a couple hours. 🙁 So, we headed to the Red Carpet Lounge there, found a good place to spend our five and a half hours and waited it out. The plane was coming from Zurich and had a mechanical issue there. When we did board, a little after 11pm, we found our business class seats … we’re now officially spoiled and will find it hard to ever fly coach again. The seats fold fully flat into beds, which we took advantage of, for sure. It made a 10.5 hour flight very bearable.
When we touched down in Buenos Aires we were met by Nicolas, who took us to our driver, Alejandro. It was nice to have all this pre-arranged and not have anything to worry about too much.
The drive into the city was scenic. We can definitely tell we’re in a different place. It’s a big city, no doubt, which also seems to have quite a European flair. The weather is pleasant today in the upper 70s with mostly clear skies.
We arrived at the apartment and waited just a bit for Pablo, the apartment representative, to come, meet us, and show us in. The apartment grounds are nice and modern, but sadly the pool which is in the courtyard area doesn’t open until Nov 15th … the day we leave. Booo! The apartment, itself, though is stunning. We have a terrific view over part of the Palermo neighborhood out toward the Rio Plata. It will be a comfortable spot to stay for our two-week adventure.
So now we’ll muster up some energy and go explore a bit, grab a bite to eat, and see what our new neighborhood has to offer.
