We made it! After a comfortable, but long 9-hour flight from LAX, we arrived late in the evening here in Papeete. Customs/immigration was a mixed up mess, but once we got out of there and got our transfer to the ship, we were glad to feel like we were officially on vacation.

We finally got to bed about 1:30am Tahiti time (2 hours behind US Pacific) and woke up this morning to a beautiful day and a great view from our stateroom’s balcony. After a quick breakfast, we explored the town of Papeete. The town feels a bit run down and it definitely has a strong French influence. French is the predominant language we hear spoken and we’ve been able to resurrect some of our French language skills.

We’re now back on the ship and ready to relax for the afternoon. We sail tonight at 5pm.
