While I had no tickets to any Olympic events on my second day Vancouver, I did definitely feel the Olympic spirit here and watched plenty of hockey on the live feeds around town.
Here are some highlights from my day …
I watched the US v. Switzerland hockey game at Live City, which is a big tent that has been set up downtown with free admission and live feeds. I was one of the very few cheering on the stars and stripes.
Also at Live City is the Canada Pavillion which has the Stanley Cup and other items on display. The line was too long, though, to wait in the drizzle (and I've already seen the Stanley Cup before).
Walking through town, the Olympic spirit is everywhere. Here, The Bay department store (Hudson's Bay Co.) has giant photographs of some of Canada's Olympians ... my eyes went right to this one, of course.
Robson Street is closed to vehicle traffic and is a pedestrian thoroughfare.
Here are some people using the zip line above Robson Street.
While it was chilly and drizzly, the cherry trees are in full blossom and makes the town look spring-like.
Canada scores and the place goes wild! Richard's friend, Patty, took this photo of us as Canada scored again.
It’s been a fun adventure so far. Richard leaves today, so I’ll be exploring the town solo now. There’s plenty to see and do, so I should stay pretty busy. Then the big gold medal game is on Sunday. Who will it be?!?!?
