WOW! A life-long dream has been fulfilled. Here I am at the Winter Olympics. I didn’t know quite what to expect and, truthfully, was a little intimidated about heading up here for a week alone … but the energy here is amazing and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to be here.

After landing yesterday afternoon, I met our friend Richard and we headed downtown. After catching up a bit, enjoying a dinner (where the conversation was much better than the food), we headed over to the hockey stadium for the Slovakia v. Norway game. Again, the energy was amazing and festive.

The game itself was terrific (except for the serious head injury we witnessed a few minutes into the game that resulted in a player being taken off the ice on a stretcher and a pool of blood being scraped up off the ice). The game was nip and tuck and, in the end, Slovakia won and will advance to the quarterfinals today.

Here are some shots from my first Olympic experience …

Posing with our tickets!

A goal was scored by Slovakia with only 1 second left in the period. Amazing!

The view from our seats. Pretty good.

A shot of Richard and me after the game ...

... taken by this woman ... with a mustache. Hmmm. Okay.

But when goals are scored by "Satan" ... I guess anything can happen at an Olympic game.
