Bora Bora was a bit of a disappointing port for us. That’s not because it isn’t beautiful. It is. But Mother Nature wasn’t cooperating for our stay there. We sailed into the bay with heavy rain clouds shrouding the mountains that seem to rise up out of the sea. Soon after the ship’s anchor was set, it did rain. It poured, actually. Our itinerary had us in Bora Bora for more than a full day and the weather never really turned very nice.
On Thanksgiving Day we did go to a nice beach, which was pretty void of other beachgoers. The low clouds and spitting rain made for a less than perfect day at the beach.
The sun started to break through a bit … as we lifted anchor and left Bora Bora. Bad timing on our part.
Tonight was a formal night on the ship and we didn’t pack formal wear on this trip. We saw the restaurant’s menu ahead of time and saw that in addition to a variety of main dishes such as lobster, the chef was preparing a traditional turkey dinner. We had been invited to another couple’s suite (Linda & Sky) to dine with them and, as the weather had improved considerably, we ate outside on the deck and enjoyed a great meal and conversation.
Tomorrow is our last full day aboard the ship. We’re on our way to Moorea, where we will arrive at 7AM. Tomorrow night we’ll leave Moorea on our way back to Papeete where we will disembark the ship Saturday morning before transferring to a hotel for the day. Our flight back to the U.S. leaves at just before midnight and we’ll get back to LA in the early morning on Sunday.
Here are some photos of our time on Bora Bora …
