Okay, so just before we left Southern California, there was a series of earthquakes in the region. We were looking forward to being away from the quakes. So what happens today, here in Toronto? A 5.0 earthquake!

It was pretty interesting as all quakes feel a bit different and neither of us has been as high as we are in this condo during a quake. It continued for several seconds. Ryan was on the phone with some colleagues about an hour away and noted that he was feeling the shaking. They didn’t feel it at first, but felt it a few seconds later. We had heard that there were tornado warnings here today, but we certainly weren’t expecting 5.0 earthquakes.

After that it was a pretty normal day. Ryan got in a quick walk after work and took some picts along the way …

Victoria Park … just a block from the condo:

Streetcars along Bathurst Street, a block to the west from us:

CN Tower and the skyscrapers downtown as seen from the Bathurst overpass:

The little Toronto City Centre Airport, just a few blocks from our condo, accessible by a short ferry ride. The airport sits on a small island in Lake Ontario. Ryan will fly into this airport in a couple weeks on the return leg of a business trip to Chicago:

Bar Wellington, across the street from our condo (we’ve not tried it yet):

Tomorrow we’re off to Niagra Falls.
