A week ago, just a few days after we learned that Prop. 8 had passed here in California, we participated in a protest, march, and candlelight rally to express our outrage. The Supreme Court of California had provided us with equal rights and, through a campaign of outright lies and deception, right wing fundamentalists led by the Morons Mormons successfully took those rights away. The protest was inspiring and energizing and we know that it is only a matter of time before everyone in this state is given the opportunity to marry the person they love.

Last Thursday there was another protest here in Palm Springs … a march through VillageFest, which is our every-Thursday nightime public street fair. Clint participated … I was away in Portland on business. He said the rally was again well-attended and full of energy.

Today was the National Day of Protest against the oucome of Prop. 8. It is so amazing to see every state in the union taking an active role in protesting what has unfortunately transpired here in California. It would appear that those who were so smug in their campaign to usurp the rights of others may have bitten off more than they had anticipated. People are fired up and we’re going to get things changed. Palm Springs had an organized protest today, along with many other cities across the nation. Here are some photos from today’s event …

We will continue to fight until our rights are restored!

We will continue to fight until our rights are restored!

If it was this easy to take away our rights that were previously provided by the government, whose rights will be next? Will someone mount a campaign to repeal rights for women, African Americans, immigrants, seniors? This is a matter that affects everyone. We encourage each of you, straight or gay, single or married, to join the impact! Help restore our civil rights!
