Today was our last full day in Adelaide (sniff, sniff) and we all decided to take a drive up to Belair National Park, just outside the city a bit, and go for a walk. We hoped to see koalas there as we have before when we’ve been there. On the drive into the parking lot, we spotted this cutie:
Some children picnicking with their parents nearby saw us looking up at the marsupial and came by to check it out. You can maybe see the koala in the upper part of the photo below, as the kids look up at it.
There was another koala in an adjacent tree and we had quite a bit of fun looking at them all. After parking, we explored some of the park’s trails by foot, keeping our eyes peeled for more koalas, emus, and kangaroos.
We saw a total of seven koalas (though some of us say six and others say eight, so we’re going with the average here), zero emus, and (damnit) zero kangaroos.
After returning home, Teigen’s Ryan had to go to work, but the other three of us decided to have our last dinner out. We went down to the beach town of Glenelg (very close to Teigen & Ryan’s home), strolled along the beach a bit …
… and had dinner at a great restaurant with a view of the marina.
It was a fantastic last full day here and we’re sad that our time here has drawn to a close. We can’t wait to see Teigen and Ryan again and are so happy to have had this time here with them.
We still have a week of vacation left. Our flight leaves Adelaide tomorrow morning and four or five hours later, we’ll land back in Auckland. We have a room booked at a hotel where we’ll stay just one night before going back to the airport for our flight to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.
