We left Copenhagen this morning thinking that we probably wouldn’t do a blog post today, what with traveling for a good portion of the day and all. But, once we hit the ground running in Amsterdam, the camera started filling up very quickly with photo after photo. This place is just so damn (pardon my Dutch) charming and picturesque! Everywhere you look you see something so different from any other city we’ve visited. So, there are a lot of pictures to look at from our introductory walk around this city and we’ll show you a few other things we experienced during the day as well.

We pulled up in front of the airport in Copenhagen just as several other cars were dropping off all these athletic good looking Danes. Very quickly people started surrounding them for autographs and TV cameras and reporters began engaging them. We had to ask but turns out it was the Danish Football (Soccer) team on their way to Russia where there are some major matches going on. These guys are rock stars in Denmark and we’d have to agree!

Another scene from the Copenhagen airport. We liked the juxtaposition of a Scandinavian airline pictured behind a Seattle-based company (Starbucks). We were on an SAS plane for our first time ever for our trip to Amsterdam.

We were surprised to find ourselves pointed toward a Tesla Model X at the taxi stand in Amsterdam! We had noticed other Teslas, of various models, also outfitted as taxis while we waited. Apparently, Amsterdam has a law that all airport taxis must be zero emission vehicles so Teslas fit the bill big time.

This is the canal just in front of our hotel. After we checked in, we went for a walk along it and other canals that branched off from it. I’ll include some of those photos below without captions.

A nice scene of fresh fruit and vegetables with quaint Amsterdam buildings reflected in the window on a street facing a canal.

Tours of the canals are popular with tourists. We plan to take one sometime this week.

For dinner we ended up at a seafood restaurant that our hotel concierge recommended. It turned out to be a fantastic suggestion and a great way to start off our dining in Amsterdam. We enjoyed sitting outside facing the square and feeling the warm sunshine on us.

You can’t see it in the photo but we dined on shrimp, razor clams, salads, and King Crab legs. Everything was excellent!

These are Dutch pancakes. They are huge but thin like crepes and quite tasty. We found a pancake house on the way back to our hotel and decided we had to try some for dessert. Ryan had one with Nutella and strawberry jam and Clint had one with lemon and powdered sugar. I think we’ll be eating more of these while we’re here.  Well, that’s it for tonight folks!
