Like everyone, we seem to be busier all the time in our day to day lives. That has made this week in Kauai all the more special. The slow pace of life really does seem to slow the passing of time and it has provided us with an even more relaxed feeling. Having been to Kauai together on occasions before, we didn’t feel the need to visit every part of the island. In fact, we stayed put for most of the week and enjoyed the views and sounds right at the condo we rented … which is perched on a peninsula in Poipu with a 270-degree view of the Pacific. It is kind of like being on a ship.

Today we head back to Palm Springs, which in and of itself is a pretty good thing, too. We’re lucky to live where we do and to be able to travel to the places we do. Mostly, we’re lucky to have each other and to enjoy similar things. This has been a vacation of just what we needed and we head back with batteries recharged.

Next trips: NYC for NYE, Honolulu in February for a brief visit, then Spain for 2-weeks in March. Olé!

Here are some images from Kauai, though:

Lawai Beach is next door to the condo we rented. Ryan frequently snorkeled here.

One of our favorite dinners here was at an old plantation house, called Plantation Gardens. It is located at Kiahuna Plantation. We returned a couple days later, on a walk, to check it out in the daylight.

There’s even a little slice of home here. Kiahuna Plantation had one garden that was full of desert plants, many of which we recognized from Palm Springs.

On our last night here, we ate at Tidepools at the Hyatt Regency. This was a fantastic meal in a stunning location.

They call it “Tidepools” because the restaurant is over ponds filled with koi.

Dinner was finished off with a coconut creme brûlée served in a coconut shell.
