We may be two men, but we’re definitely more like Eva Gabor when it comes to where we’d rather be. Here we are in New York City … and loving it.

We began the cross-country journey with plenty of leg room … row 9 of Business Class on United’s p.s. (Premium Service) flight out of LAX. No trouble stretching out here …

Weather in NY was beautiful when we arrived … sunny and crisp. Flowering trees were in full bloom and it looked like it was snowing on some of the streets in the city as the blossoms blew down to the roadways.

The next morning, we met Clint’s sister, Molly, on the Upper West Side for breakfast at one of her favorite joints … Popover Cafe. Why is it called Popover’s? A picture tells it all …

We then ventured off to the Museum of Modern Art. We had a great time there, exploring works by Picasso, Dali, van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet, Gaugin, and a very cool piece by James Rosenquist called F-111 that was virtually impossible to capture in photos, but this link from Brown University shows it quite well. At MoMA, the image covers four walls of one room. Other MoMA memories follow …

Having been here only a couple days so far, and despite some pretty rainy and chilly weather, we’ve had fun walking around town seeing all the sights …

Times Square

Lots of shows ... TV and stage productions

Zabar's ... one of Ryan's favorite NYC shopping stops.

Zabar's barrels of olives

Clint even paid at Zabar's (Hey, how did he get money?)

One of the highlights so far, though, has been seeing The Book of Mormon at the Eugene O’Neill Theater here. It was a riotous, raucous, fun-filled two hours.

Of course, we’ve been dining out a bunch, too, enjoying lots of different types of foods and some pretty unique venues, too. One we enjoyed today, called Lillie’s, was not only delicious, but was also an ornate Victorian pub-like setting.

It will be a busy week, with more shows, visits from friends in the area, and a trip up the Hudson just a bit to see family there. All that and with the weather forecast looking a bit brighter, it should be an excellent week.
