On this, our last full day in Argentina, we took a bike trip from central Buenos Aires up the Rio Plata, the world’s widest river, to the town of Tigre. We found the organized tour online and met up with the tour guide, Julian, and three others … all from the U.S. We boarded a train at the Retiro train station and took it about 20 minutes outside of town with our bikes. From there, we biked alongside the river and through small towns to Tigre, a town at the Rio Plata’s delta. After about seven hours, we returned to Buenos Aires, but we returned with plenty of photos to share …

We met up in Plaza San Martin in Buenos Aires' Retiro district.

Trying the wheels out before we got going.

At our first stop we took a little breather in a park-like setting. Here Clint is with our guide, Julian, and another tour participant, Regina.

We were already quite a distance from the city, seen here in the distance.

After biking up the Rio Plata a bit more, we came to a nature preserve. Pictured here is a carpincho or capibara, in English, the world's largest rodent (but this guy was small).

Our next stop was San Isidro, home to this cathedral built around an impressive square on a hill sloping down to the Rio Plata.

San Isidro's streets have a European feel.

Clint enjoyed some mate that Julian prepared for us in San Isidro.

The final stop was Tigre, home to an enormous public market (a bit of a zoo, really). At this booth, there were candied apples and candied figs (higos) for sale.

This stall in Tigre sold olives, dried beans, spices, and a variety of other goods.

Tigre is calmer and more attractive outside of the public market.

Once finished in Tigre, we boarded the train for Buenos Aires and were back in about an hour. We had time for a final pose with our tour guide, Julian, and the rest of the group.

All in all, it was a fun way to spend our final full day in Argentina. Tomorrow, we’ll have the bulk of the day here in Buenos Aires, before the driver comes to get us at 6pm to take us to the airport for our 10pm flight back to the States. We’ll have a final Buenos Aires post tomorrow!
