¡Hola! This blog post, being written at 3:30am, is maybe not the best way to deal with jet lag, but the options at this time of night (morning?) are pretty limited. So, yes, we’ve made it to Madrid, our first time in this city. Rainy skies greeted us and, unfortunately, our luggage did not. We waited at the bag carousel, only to be let down by our bags, which decided to stay in Munich and then – once they finally got to Mardi – opted to overnight at the airport rather than find their way to us. So we’re luggagless in Mardid.

Once we made it into town from the airport, we napped briefly, then walked around the neighborhood of our hotel a bit and grabbed a small bite to eat (we ate like baby elephants on our flights to here, being generously fed on each one). We pretty much took it easy, waited for luggage that never arrived, and finally fell asleep in a very nice suite that the hotel graciously provided as an upgrade to our points-based stay.

It looks like our time here in Madrid will include plenty of rain, but we’ll make the best of it and enjoy our next three days here before heading off to the Mediterranean coast, where we will spend a week.

Here are some pics from the trip so far:

Our first dinner in Madrid was rather low-key.

Pizza at the counter ... yes, we were pretty tired and just looking for something quick.
